Practices and Tournaments
Girls are encouraged to wear kneepads. These may come off for a short time to encourage good habits (not relying on the pads).  Some of the older girls will have volleyball shoes just for the volleyball court.

If a player is going to miss practice they are expected to make contact with their coach.

When school is cancelled, so are practices.

For tournaments the players should bring snacks (some tournament locations do no allow food from the outside), sometimes even a light meal, and plenty of water or other healthy drink bottles.  Most of the tournament locations sell concessions.  Other things some kids bring: head sets, cards, small games, homework, extra socks, change of shirt, sweats, fleece blankets are popular, and flip-flops to get out of their shoes between games.  Parents and spectators will need chairs (some of the locations have bleachers).  There can be a small entrance fee.

Tournaments are usually either 4-6 hours in the morning or afternoon.  These generally consist of 3 matches per day.  This can vary based on number of teams and tournament design.

The girls are expected to referee.  This will mean coming before our first match to referee or staying after our last match to referee another game.  All players are expected to stay even if not refereeing the match.  This is fair to everyone, and yes there will be exceptions.  For both the 10 and 11U teams we are looking for a few parents to volunteer to help with scorekeeping.

Sometimes there is a question on tournament results, please make the coach aware.  The coach can then address the tournament official.

Please direct any roster questions to Terry Melick.
